Movie Review- The Fate Of The Furious

The Fate Of The Furious is the latest in the “Fast and Furious” franchise. It is the first movie since The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift not to feature Jordana Brewster and the late, great Paul Walker. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray and stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Scott Eastwood, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell, Luke Evans, Don Omar, and more.

The DSS recruits Dominic Toretto and his team Letty, Roman Pearce, Tej Parker, and Ramsey to work with Hobbs to steal an EMP pulse. During the extraction, Dom attack Hobbs and steals the EMP pulse. He seemingly turns his back on his family. This frames Hobbs and forces his his family to go into hiding.

After meeting with Mr. Nobody and his new trainee, the team discovers that Dom has teamed up with an evil cyber-terrorist named Cypher. Her purpose for him is unknown. They are forced to work with former rival Deckard Shaw who has a grudge against Cypher.

As the team is planning their next step, the base is attacked by Cypher and Dom. They steal several government devices and move on. The team then chase Dom from New York City across the globe. Little do they know that Dom did not just turn against them. He is working with Cypher for a very special reason.

F8 felt different without the presence of Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster last seen in Furious 7. Paul Walker will surely be missed. That being said, it is one of the better of the films of the series. It still does not capture the gravitas of the first film, but none have come close to that anyway.

One thing I appreciated about F8 is that it tones down (but does not eliminate) the physics defying car stunts. It goes back to the adrenaline junkie, action pack, adventure film with fast cars and nitros fueled film. It is a great action packed thriller with all of the Martial Arts action and explosions you could ask for.

FAVORITE QUOTE: It’s neon orange. The International Space Station will see it coming.
