Joshua Williamson writes the Batman and the Flash crossover event “The Price” covers Batman #64 and #65, along with The Flash #64 and #65, it leaves “Knightmares” in a cliffhanger while tying into Tom King’s “Heroes In Crisis” from DC Comics.

After the Justice League stops Amazo, The Flash heads to Central City as Gotham Girl attacks the Flash Museum. Batman arrives to help, but Barry Allen is reluctant to team-up with the Dark Knight after Wally West’s death at Sanctuary. This leads to an explosive battle with Gotham Girl and more tension between two heroes who were once friends.

I do want to praise the artwork. Guillem March covers the Batman-side of the crossover while Rafa Sandoval handles The Flash-side. Both of them do an excellent job with illustrations as do the rest of the writing team. However, I am not a fan of the covers since they appeared a bit cartoonish.

Honestly, if Williamson had not tied this story to “Heroes in Crisis,” it would have been a good standalone story. Batman and The Flash have a lot of history and them teaming up to fight Gotham Girl would have been a good story, but because the story reminds us that DC Comics made the disastrous decision to kill off Wally West (again). Also, the timing is incredibly awkward. Batman is in the midst of another saga (noted above) and this interruption leaves the reader scratching their head.
