Grief has always been touched on by singers and songwriters. Sometimes poorly, but then there are rare songs that broach their music with a reverence that is undeniable. Madilyn Bailey’s Red Ribbon is one of those songs that has a tenderness.
The song speaks of loved ones who have passed on from this life but rest in our memories and even though we mourn them, they loved us and have a special place in our hearts. Bailey has always had a fantastic voice and partnered with Kazumi Shimokawa on the piano and strings, it creates a dynamite piece of music.
The music video perfectly compliments the song. As Bailey sings, we see images and video of other people, including Lindsey Stirling, who has lost someone. This song is dedicated to them.
Bailey writes on the video’s description, “Last year I lost my Grandma to cancer. I believe speaking our pain into the light is how it heals. Here is my story and the stories of some of the most inspiring women in my life.”
Red Ribbon is a lovely and beautiful song with heart.
