01 movie stuck in development limbo p1

Ever hear of Development Limbo? Probably. Different pop culture websites have mentioned these undeveloped Hollywood films in there. It is basically where planned films go to die. There is still an option for them, but no one is picking it up or making it. Sadly, there are several films there that need to be made. Here is Part one of Movies Stuck In Development Limbo We Want To See!

The Brazilian Job– This film is a sequel to The Italian Job, the revenge/heist film starring Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg. A sequel had been planned since 2004, but as of 2012, the project has not moved forward.

The Jetsons– With the success of other animated franchises coming to life, you would think that a live action version of this story of a futuristic family would be on the top of the list. However, The Jetsons has been stuck since 1984.

Wicked– The retelling of the story of The Wicked Witch of the West was made into a Broadway play, but the film has been continually put on hold since the story was brought to life.

This Present Darkness– This novel written by bestselling author Frank Peretti redefined Christian fiction and forged the way for other Christian authors. A film moved forward and concept art was even drawn, but creative differences caused the film to stall and it has not been developed since then.

Return of Roger Rabbit– Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a breakout film that combined animated with live action. A sequel and a prequel have all been planned, but it has never moved passed planning stages. Steven Spielberg has seemingly abandoned it.

Indiana Jones 5– After the disaster that was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the fans have been demanding a film to redeem the series. It’s another one that is being held back by other projects. UPDATE: Harrison Ford has been announced to star in a new Indy film.

Tron 3After Tron Legacy under performed, Tron 3 was put on hold. Though it suppose to bring some of the best of the cast back, it has been stuck, but recent developments may make it come to fruition.

Sherlock Holmes 3– Despite the success of Sherlock Holmes and its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, the busy schedules of stars Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law has been holding it back. Director Guy Ritchie has many draft scripts in his office.

Dark Crystal 2– Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal is one of the best films of all times. The original writer of the first film was said to have written a sequel in 2005. In 2011, Cheryl Henson said the film has been put on hold indefinitely.

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea remake– David Fincher has been trying to get a remake going, but Disney (who owns the rights to the story) is trying to make less expensive films. Fincher stills holds out hope, but has gone on to make other projects.
