What is Development Limbo? Pretty much, it is when a film gets through scripting, casting, and even a few shoots, but for whatever reason, loss of funding, a production company backs out, an actor or actress quit, they are put on hold. Here are Movies Stuck In Development Limbo We Want To See: Part 3!
Teen Titans: The Judas Contract- Based on the popular 80s, DC Comics superhero story of the same name, this was originally going to be a live action film, but soon evolved into an animated film. It was put on hold when Warner Bros. Animation decided to focus on new material to develop into animated films.
The Story of Bonnie and Clyde- No, not the A&E miniseries, this would be another biopic of the bank robbers similar to Public Enemies. Hillary Duff was attached to it at one time, but it seems that it has gone away.
Breaker Boys- Based on the controversy surrounding the 1925 NFL championship where the Pottsville Maroons had their title revoked after defeating the more popular football team Chicago Cardinals. David Felming, author of the book of the same name, has been shopping around a script for the film.
Ghost In The Shell- A live action version of the popular anime has been talked about since it first came out. It is a difficult story to make, but it is possible. UPDATE: A live action version is in the works with Scarlett Johansson attached to star.
Rendezvous With Rama- One of the most talked about films in limbo, this would be an adaption of the Arthur C. Clarke novel of the same name. It is has been highly anticipated with many names attached, but it never seems to go anywhere.
Maximum Ride- The tale of winged teen heroes by James Patterson has been offered everything from films to TV series, but nothing ever seems to get moving on it.
The White Company- Based on the novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (yes, the Sherlock Holmes creator), John Ford had wanted to make this film for some time and since his death, no one else seems interested in his project.
Wonderful Wizard of Oz- Despite the success of the older film, there was some want to see a faithful adaption made. However, nothing ever gets past the planning stages and only vague adaptions have come out of the discussion.
Metroid- A film about the video game armor clad bounty hunter Samus Aran has been in talks for awhile. One seemed to be getting off pretty well, but then it was shelved once again.
Tripoli- The story of America’s war with the Barbary Pirates would be an interesting endeavor. Sadly, the political climate will not allow this film to be made. 20th Century Fox keeps promising, but it never delivers.
