Warning! This review contains some spoilers from previous books in the series.
Ralph Reed continues the story of fictional United States President Robert Long after book two: The Confirmation. It takes place following his successful Supreme Court nominee. The midterms are approaching and Long’s nemesis, New Jersey Senator Sal Stanley, the Majority Leader is up for reelection.
President Long faces a choice now. Does he back Republicans and the Republican Party? Or does he dig into his Democrat Party background. However, complicating matters are the murder of Senator Perry Miller from Florida who was apparently murdered by radical Islamic terrorists, the same ones who killed the Vice President in the first book Dark Horse.
Complications seem to arise at every corner, even with political genius expert Jay Noble at his side, President Long has to deal with treachery and support from unlikely places.
Ralph Reed is a master of the political thriller. Each book in this series kept me up at night wanting to know how it ended, and Blood and Ballots was no different. I highly recommend this for its insight and its masterfully crafted story.
