Movie Review- Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The latest in a series of films based on Marvel Comics. This new universe has been dubbed the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Coming to prepare us for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is Captain America: The Winter Soldier directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

Taken place two years after Marvel’s The Avengers, The story goes that Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson) has discovered a conspiracy within SHIELD. He is mortally wounded by the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and gives a clue to Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans), who turns to the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Sam Wilson aka The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) for help. What they discover is, it is worse than Fury thought. SHIELD has been compromised thanks to the recreated HYDRA.

The trio goes in search for the truth, but soon they find that the truth may have far more consequences than they first thought, and that the Winter Soldier has a connection to Rogers bigger than first suspected.

I just want to say, I loved this film. While I enjoyed Captain America: The First Avenger, this film brought to light a man who is out of time and the challenges that lie within it, especially when discovering that secrets cannot be kept to the public forever.

It is a great film about privacy, freedom, and doing the right thing. I want to praise the directors for their fine crafting of this plot and narrative that pushes the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a bold new direction.

I highly recommend this film!
