Book Review- Encountering God Through Dance

You can watch the book trailer here.

This book is another one that is personal to me. I know Saara Taina. I’ve known her for about two years now, but I worked closely with her for my intern year at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in Redding, California. As such, I should warn you, this review might be a little biased.

I grew up in a semi-traditional Pentecostal church where dancing was considered secular, very secular. However, due to my time at Bethel and working with Saara personally, I have discovered that dance is a type of worship that God loves to see from his children.

The book is about just that, worshiping Jesus. It challenges your thinking and breaks through the stereotype that came from the anti-dancing movement within the church. She breaks it down first with her own story, about how Holy Spirit guided her to be a dancer, and then how she used it to express her love of Father God.

She uses the verses in the Bible that break down what dancing means, and defeats the notion that all dancing is bad. I highly recommend this book, not only because it a great book, but also because I know the author personally, and I know her heart. Knowing that the heart behind the author is one that pursues Jesus with everything she is, that is what makes the book worth reading.

If you are against dancing, read it with an open mind. I believe that you will find that it challenges you. If you want to dance before the Lord, but do not know how, read this book. It will help you. If you are a veteran dancer who expresses worship through dance, read it, and hear testimonies of other dancers like you!
