Recently, I got wind of an epic writing contest. The winner gets a two book deal and the full treatment from the publishing company hosting it. Granted, it’s a small company, but hey, as a writer who desires to be published, it just makes a whole lot of sense.
Thus, I wrote a pitch (level 1 of the contest) for an idea of a book I had. Then I realized something: level 2 is to have a finished manuscript. That’s right, well, the project is less than half way done to say the least.
I remember in Star Wars Episode Five when Luke Skywalker looses his lightsaber in a duel with Darth Vader, but then in Episode Six, he magically has another one. Okay, not magically, he did build it you find out at the end of the film.
I feel like that. I submitted a book to be published years ago, but needless to say, it did not make it. Now, I’m pitching another idea that I have to build from scratch. I lost one in an epic battle and now I have to scrape together a totally new one. Not sure how this is going to work out, but it worked out for Luke Skywalker, right?
I will keep everyone updated on the Writing contest and on my project in general.
