Edgar Rice Burroughs (September 1, 1875 – March 19, 1950) is one of my favorite authors. He was famous for the John Carter of Mars series, as well as, Tarzan of the Apes. However, his reach into writing literature spans science fiction, fantasy, Western fiction, historical novels, and so much more. I hope to emulate the success he had genre crossing.
Today, I want to celebrate his birthday by posting one of my favorite quotes by him.
“No fiction is worth reading except for entertainment. If it entertains and is clean, it is good literature, or its kind. If it forms the habit of reading, in people who might not read otherwise, it is the best literature.”
