#NaNoWriMo- About 5,000 Words Short

incomplete

2015 was the first year I participated in National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. The plan was to write a 50,000 word story in 30 days to be the framework for a first draft.

I am disappointed to announce that I ended with just 45,000 words. I have no excuse except that I was really enjoying my Thanksgiving vacation in California with my super cute wife’s family. They along with my own totally support my writing, so I cannot blame anyone, but myself.

Some might see this as a failure. So what? I learned from this mistake and now I will adapt this year’s experience for the next round of writing my novel. Despite being shy for my first NaNoWriMio, I am very satisfied with my results.  I have a great science fiction/superhero novel that is only a few pages away from being a complete first draft.

This brings my count to several dozen poems, two novellas, and now two full length novels. Maybe this was your first year participating and you ended up short too. Do not give up! Keep on writing!
