In a previous article, I explained how the Republican National Committee had dropped NBC from the February 25th, 2016 debate in Houston, Texas after the disastrous performance by the commentators from CNBC. NBC was suppose to be co-hosting with the National Review and Telemundo.
Glenn Beck had started a movement known as the #BlazeDebate to get his organization to co-host as a replacement. Many candidates expressed their approval including Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Carly Fiorina, Rand Paul, and Rick Santorum. I was among those excited to see it.
However, it was announced last week that the RNC had chosen CNN to take the place of NBC. It is a disappointing choice, but what came after is what shocked me the most.
National Review recently wrote an article about GOP front-runner Donald Trump titled Against Trump (click to read) that went viral. It became so popular (or infamous) that Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush even responded to it. While the timing of the article was poor, since they were hosting a debate, I do agree with many of the points the authors made. Meanwhile, instead of acting like adults, the RNC reacted with vengeance. They dis-invited the National Review from the debate, leaving solely in the hands of the left-wing media franchise CNN, an organization that routinely attacks conservatives.
Reince Priebus promised Conservatives, whether Republican or Independent, that new media, specifically Conservative media would participate in the debate process. So far, that promise has not been kept. Sure Salem Media got to hang out at a few, but only Hugh Hewitt has been involved. I do acknowledge that Independent Journal Review will be attending the February 6th debate as well, but that is still only minor involvement of Conservative media.
The Blaze, One America News, NewsMax, Breitbart, Hot Air, RedState, Townhall, The Daily Caller, TruthRevolt, The Weekly Standard, and now National Review along with many others have been completely left out of the process.
In this 2016 election cycle, the Republican Party better start delivering on its promises. We have been hurt by the so-called establishment Republicans that we voted in a wave of more Conservative “Tea Party” activists, but so far, they have not delivered either. It is no wonder that we are so confused and fractured as a Conservative movement.
We defeated Lindsey Graham and John Boehner, we will come after the others next. If the RNC does not start getting its act together, there will be a reckoning.
