It’s Texas Month at the good ol’ blog, that means most of the articles are based on the Lone Star State, including the Throwback Thursday articles. Today, we are looking at the Top Ten Weirdest Town Names In Texas. Please note, most of my commentary is for humor and satire.

#10- Early: You know what they say, early to bed, early to rise.

#9- Fruitvale: Not Fruitville, but Fruitvale. It was originally named Bolen Switch, but changed in 1901.

#8- Jolly: Let’s hope they are.

#7- Hutto: Their High School mascot is the Hippo. That’s right, the Hutto Hippos.

#6- McLendon-Chisholm: The two founding families decided to compromise on the town name.

#5- Iraan: Believe it or not, it’s named after two farmers Ira and Ann. Yep.

#4- Lott: Who would name a town after a man whose wife turned to salt?

#3- Munday: Not Tuesday.

#2- Onalaska: Because “Alaska” was too easy to spell.

#1- Cut N’ Shoot: They’re not just cutting, they’re shooting too.
