Folklore Book: Legend of the Pineys

Joe F. Combs was a newspaper columnist who wrote the popular Farm Corner column that appeared daily in the Texas newspaper The Beaumont Enterprise. His work has appeared in various other newspapers as well.

A firm naturalist and a big believer in agriculture, he wrote a called Growing Pastures In The South and a collection of his article Farm Corner (named after the column) has been published.

This book is different. Legend of the Pineys tells the story of Southeast Texas through its legends, folklore, superstitions, and tall tales. It is one of the best compilations of Texas tales I have ever read.

Be sure to subscribe for more upcoming Texas Month articles this August. In September, it is back to business as usual.
