#Anime Movie Review- Spirited Away (English Dub)

Directed by Hayao Miyazaki in the original Japanese version, Spirited Away is a stunning 2001 Studio Ghibli anime production. John Lasseter of Pixar oversaw the spirited-away-filmDisney English dub version with help from Kirk Wise and Donald W. Ernst who served as director and producer respectively.

The film is about a young girl Chihiro whose family is moving to a new city. Her family take a wrong turn and end up in an old fair ground. It turns out, the fair ground is a gathering place for spirits.

The spirits turn her parents into pigs, trapping her in the spirit world. With help from a mysterious boy named Haku, she is forced to go on an adventure that features strange and bizarre creatures all in a bath house for spirits.

This is one of the most enchanting stories I’ve ever seen come from Studio Ghibli. It is beautiful, serene, and it never gets boring. Some of the spirits portrayed are a little weird, but the adventure of the tale keeps you engaged.

Disney does a great job of translating the film into English. They have an incredible voice cast including: Daveigh Chase, Jason Marsden, Suzanne Pleshette, David Ogden Stiers, Susan Egan, Paul Eiding, John Ratzenberger,  Tara Strong, among others.
