Movie Review- God’s Not Dead 2

I was able to finally view God’s Not Dead 2, sequel to the film God’s Not Dead. They both tell heart wrenching stories that some Christians are either ignoring or in denial is happening.

This Christian, faith based movie is produced by Pure Flix, directed by Harold Cronk, and stars Melissa Joan Hart, Jesse Metcalfe, David A. R. White, Ray Wise, Hayley Orrantia, the newsboys, Sadie Robertson, Ernie Hudson, and others.

When History teacher Grace Wesley answers a question about a quote that Jesus Christ made, the school she works for decides to suspend her and let the ACLU take her to the courtroom over it.

Attorney Tom Endler is chosen by her teacher’s union to defend her. The trial starts out as an assault on religious freedom, but soon Endler changes tactics to set out proving that Jesus was a historical figure.

A few subplots include Pastor David Hill is mentoring Martin Yip (both are characters from the first film). Amy (also from the first film) discovers that her cancer is healed. She sets out to discover her case and connects with Brooke, the student who asked the original question that started the lawsuit.

While it lacks the punch of the first film, it was developed very well. The story is compelling and I connected well with the characters. If you have not seen, do so. It will inspire you. Also, there is a post credit scene, so hold on until the last credit rolls.

FAVORITE QUOTE: I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world, than stand with the world and be judged by God.
