A Tribute To Adam West

Adam West, best known for playing the Batman, has passed away after a short, but courageous battle with leukemia.

Mr. West played the Caped Crusader in the campy television series Batman from 1966 to 1968, a film spin-off. He would later play the World’s Greatest Detective in Legends of the Superheroes a 1979 Justice League made-for-TV film. He would go on to voice the character for the Super Friends and numerous other animated shows.

West may have played a parody of what we know as The Dark Knight, but he did something that had not been done in a longtime. He brought comic book characters into mainstream pop culture. While Batman had several a few radio appearances and theatrical serials, Adam West’s portrayal paved the way for many other superhero themed shows.

He would later appear on Batman: The Animated Series in the episode of “Beware the Gray Ghost,” playing an actor who had starred as the dark detective Gray Ghost, an inspiration for Bruce Wayne. He would later appear in cartoon The Batman recurring as Gotham City Mayor Marion Grange.

Before his passing, he reprises the role in Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and later for Batman VS Two-Face which was to feature William Shatner as Harvey Dent. It will be released posthumously.

His passing is a blow to Batman fans and to the comic book community as a whole. He will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.

If you would like to order your paperback copy of my debut novel Cacophony: A Tale Of Faith And Fear, click here. It is an incredible paranormal thriller about a group of demons trying to steal human souls by assaulting their church. The Messenger Gabriel, a Guardian angel Christopher, and the Seven Archangels are sent by God to stop them. It’s a tale that mixes drama, supernatural fiction, with a dash of fantasy.
