Today on StudioJake, we had a very an epic live panel where we discussed Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi. When the film first came out, I did an in depth review. Definitely give it a read.
For this live event, I have the the Shakedown podcast co-host Austin Stephens, The Losers co-host Marshall Benson, and last, but definitely not least, we got Mathis Glover, a filmmaker and cinefile. The four of us have an awful lot to say about what we like and did not like.
Watch the episode below:
First, what we liked. Mathis and Marshall saw the film more than once and they have almost non-stop praise on the film. We did agree on three things. Number one, the film’s visuals are stunning. Number two, it better than The Force Awakens. Number three, Rey and Kylo Ren had way better character development.
Second, we discuss what we did not like about the film. For me and Austin, there was so much to complain about. Mathis and Marshall had a few points too, but honestly, there is way too much to get into in a single paragraph. Needless to say, I am not a fan of Rian Johnson’s work.
Third, we talk about how the film effected its predecessor. Finally, we talk about the future. Will Episode IX be a new remake or will it finally be a Disney Star Wars film that will stand on its own. Also, why isn’t Gareth Edwards directing this film? He did great on Rogue One.
What do you think? Did you enjoy Star Wars: The Last Jedi? Any of the franchise’s future we talked about interesting to you? Let me know in the comments below.
