Why We Should Be Worried About Solo: A Star Wars Story

Happy May the Fourth! That’s right, it is that time of year when Star Wars fans are celebrating the science fiction franchise that shook the world when George Lucas’ masterpiece entered the silver screen.

For those who are extra dense, May the Fourth became a play on “May the force be with you.” Just throwing out there for those who do not know.

When Disney first took over the Star Wars franchise, I was especially excited. They way they brought the Marvel Cinematic Universe to life, filled me with excitement and then The Force Awakens happened. It’s lackluster story and terrible ending kind of put me in a funk. However, Rogue One happened. Gareth Edwards brought the story to life in a way that was reminiscent of the classic trilogy. That gave me hope, but then The Last Jedi happened. It proves that Disney gave the best property they could get and turned it over to rookies like JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson.

Now we’re to Solo: A Star Wars Story which is suppose to be an origin story fan favorite Han Solo. We should be scared. The film has gone through a dozen directors, multiple reshoots, casting issues, and while Ron Howard is a talented director, he more tried to fix the film than actually shot it himself.

Also, I don’t need an origin for Han Solo. His character was settled in the first trilogy and given a terrible send-off in the new trilogy. Now a cash-grab flick that while has a talented cast, it is not what we want. Disney needs to focus on fixing the sequel trilogy instead of making lame prequels that serve no purpose other than to make the fans angry.

Disney should have copied the pattern they made with the MCU, but instead, they chose to make sporadic films that are completely lackluster.

Wow, a another rant. What do you think? Are there any concerns that you have about how Disney is proceeding with the Star Wars films? Let me know in the comments below.
