Music Review- Anthem Lights: Joy To The World Cover

Joy to the World is one of my favorite Christmas hymns. So I was incredibly excited when Anthem Lights decided to cover this year.

Composed in 1719 by Isaac Watts, it was based on Psalm 98 and appeared in the composer’s The Psalms of David: Imitated in the language of the New Testament, and applied to the Christian state and worship (yikes long title) collection. It has since become the most widely sung Christmas song in North America.

The guys from Anthem Lights take their turn and as usual, hit it out of the park. They do the thoughtful, yet happy Christmas song a real service with their astounding singing and musical talent. It is probably one of their best covers for a holiday song. The music video, likewise, is simple, elegant, with the guys just singing along to their music.

I cannot wait to see what else these guys have in store. They really do a tremendous job with their songs and I hope for more great Christmas music.
