Favorite Films Of 2018

With my eclectic taste in films, it is often hard to narrow down my absolute favorite movies of the year. That being said, 2018 was a good year for movies and I found myself begging for more, especially in the comic book and science fiction genre. Here is my list of favorite films for the past year.

Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle– This film brought Godzilla back to his villainous roots with humans battling him for survival on an Earth that is no longer their home. The art style of this anime was a bit odd, but it was still an enjoyable story.

The Death Of Superman– What Zack Snyder did poorly, the team at Warner Animation did correctly. This is the story of Superman’s climatic battle with the monster Doomsday.

I Can Only Imagine– This faith-based story tell the origins of the song of the same name. It was so well received that not even secular critics could ignore its impact.

Black Panther– This is the tale of the Marvel superhero and king T’Challa.

Death Of A Nation– Dinesh D’Souza tells the forbidden history of the Democrat Party and their connections to European fascists.

Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay– WB Animation scores another hit with the Suicide Squad franchise for the live-action failed.

A Quiet Place– John Krasinski directs and stars in this film about a world where a simple sound can mean death.

Batman: Ninja– While Tony Hale didn’t inspire as the Joker and the climax was a bit overdone, this anime take on the Dark Knight was pretty epic.

If You’re Gone– This indie film about a boy who vanishes and the girl he leaves behind is a drama you do not want to miss.

Ant-Man And The Wasp– The smallest Avenger has a partner.

Chappaquiddick– The tragic tale of Mary Jo Kopechne and her deadly ride with Senator Ted Kennedy.

Batman: Gotham By Gaslight– The DC Comics Elseworld tale of a Victorian Age Caped Crusder comes to life.

I Am That Man– When a struggle veteran finds out his best friend has been murdered by white supremacists, he swears to exact vengeance.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse– After he assumes the mantle of Spider-Man, Miles Morales encounters several from other dimensions.

Avengers: Infinity War– The mad Titan known as Thanos is on a quest to collect the Infinity Stones so he can wipe out half the universe.

Please note, these are not in any particular order, but I will say that Avengers: Infinity War was my favorite film of the year. This was truly the year of the superhero movie and I do not regret a single minute watching them.
