Music Review- The Band Perry: MARFA PRADA

The Band Perry is a country rock trio that has produced some very memorable songs including “Better Dig Two,” “Independence,” and a few others. From their new album Coordinates comes this new song “MARFA PRADA”,” a definite sea change.

Prada, Prada, Prada, Prada
Prada, Prada, Prada, Prada

That is how the song opens. I am very disappointed. While the music is fine and the band’s lead vocalist Kimberly Perry’s voice is top notch, this song felt more like an advertisement for expensive clothing/merchandising brands. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and well, Prada, are sung about for some odd reason. I prefer the band’s song about love, freedom, and imagination, but instead, we get a three and half minute long song that just talks about wearing fancy brands. The lyric video is not much better, providing nothing but scenery with people wearing fancy looking clothes.

One of the things I liked about the band is their seemingly rebellious nature, but this song praising high-end brands is a somber disappointment.
