We Have A Title! Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker

At the 2019 Star Wars Celebration, Disney and LucasFilms unveiled the new title for the upcoming Star Wars film. The official title is ‘The Rise Of Skywalker.’ After the unveiling, they released a teaser trailer to celebrate the occasion.

While I am not a fan of the title, since they killed off Luke Skywalker in Rian Johnson’s disastrous entry The Last Jedi, I actually did enjoy the trailer. A few people are rightly hesitant about it since Disney has ruined the Star Wars brand. That being said, it looks like J.J. Abrams is returning the series to its form with lightsaber action, space, original characters are appearing, the music is spot on, but the lingering effects of Han Solo and Luke’s deaths are still a jarring memory.

Hopefully, Disney has learned its lesson and will do the things necessary to bring this sequel to its fruition. After that, they can reboot the franchise (but not the original films) and this Star Wars sequel series all be a distant memory with the release of Episode IX.
