Graphic Novel Review- Awakening: A Christmas Episode of the Starlight Chronicle

Awakening: A Christmas Episode of the Starlight Chronicles by CS Johnson is part of her young adult novel series “The Starlight Chronicles” set between book one and two. It is illustrated by Eko Bambang.

As Christmas comes around in Apollo City, Hamilton Dinger is excited about spending the season with his girlfriend Gwen Kessler. However, after getting a drink from his favorite coffee shop, he encounters a monster and transforms into his superhero persona Wingdinger. As he battles the monster, he encounters the equally powerful Starry Knight, who frustrates him during the battle.

Per usual, CS Johnson delivers an excellent story. It is lots of fun and the Christmas-theme brings it down. If you are a fan of her YA stuff, then you know that Dinger is overconfident and often rude, but he has his good side. Bambang’s artwork perfectly compliments the story in all aspects from tone to style. Click on the link in the thumbnail to get your copy.
