Marvel Comics brings together the Man Without Fear and New York’s deadliest vigilante in Daredevil And The Punisher: Child’s Play written by comic book veteran Frank Miller and drawn by Miller along with iconic artist Klaus Jansen. It was first published in 1988 and highlighted a growing drug problem in the inner city.

The United States government helps Frank Castle escape from prison in order to have his alter ego, The Punisher, bring in a drug dealer. After he succeeds, the Punisher escapes, in order to track down the drugs in Hell’s Kitchen. Meanwhile, Daredevil seeks to help a young boy who is accused of shooting a drug dealer. As both his masked identity and lawyer Matt Murdock, he helps the boy as he gathers evidence. That is when he meets the Punisher and the two vigilantes collide over how to stop the drug lords from taking over the neighbor.

Frank Miller is best when he is writing about street-level vigilantes. He is in top form displaying the differences in ideology of the two heroes he is writing about. The Punisher is a “shoot first” assassin who will stop at nothing to stop the criminals. While Daredevil is tough, he shows more restraint preferring to trust in the law to get justice. Miller is adept at telling this story and with him and Klaus Jansen doing the incredible artwork that matches the gritty feeling of the comic book series.
