Could The 90s X-Men Animated Series Return?

The X-Men: The Animated Series from the nineties could make a return to television after Disney’s acquisition at FOX, according to Bounding Into Comics. The creative team behind the Marvel show has pitched a continuation of the series to Disney that would pick up right where it left off. X-Men artist Larry Houston told The Hollywood Reporter, “The one thing we’d like to do more than anything else is to continue where we left off.”

I remember how this show brought to life the X-Men. It was one of the greatest comic book shows to have been produced. Unfortunately, in the last season, Marvel decided to move production to an inferior studio that dropped the quality of the animation and writing. Though fans wanted it to be saved, it was ultimately canceled after 76 episodes following low ratings.

The television series was iconic, adapting several comic book story-arcs (sometimes loosely) including “Dark Phoenix”, “Days Of Future Past,” “Weapon X,” “The Phalanx Covenant,” and “Alpha Fight.” The team consisted of an all-star group of characters Cyclops (Norm Spencer), Wolverine (Cathal J. Dodd), Rogue (Lenore Zann), Storm (Iona Morris; Alison Sealy-Smith), Beast (George Buza), Gambit (Chris Potter; Tony Daniels), Jubilee (Alyson Court), Jean Grey (Catherine Disher), and Professor X (Catherine Disher) with Colossus, Nightcrawler, Bishop, Cable, and Iceman guest-starring.
