‘Joker’ Will Be Rated ‘R.’ So What?

Todd Philips shared a new photo from the set of ‘Joker,’ the upcoming DC Film from Warner Bros. which will feature a new take on the Batman villain known as the Clown Prince of Crime as Arthur Fleck. The photo itself is not causing the stir, but the announcement from the director regarding the MPAA rating.

“MPAA rating?” a fan asked the film’s director. Philips replied, “it will be Rated R. I’ve been asked this a lot. Just assumed people knew. Sorry.”

Finishing touches.

My response to that: so what? I am honestly not sure what this obsession is with a superhero movie being rated ‘R.’ Who cares as long as the Joker is good? Joaquin Phoenix looks great in the role, but let’s remember that the rating only hints at the content, but not the quality of the feature you are viewing. I have seen excellent films ranging from a variety of ratings, so what truly what difference does it make?

That being said, I am looking forward to this film. I am not surprised that DC Films is taking a break long the shared universe of the DCEU since only Wonder Woman and Aquaman are any good (I have not seen Shazam as of the writing of this.) This is the ideal situation for the DC Universe and hopefully, they will continue this trend.
