Graphic Novel Review- Batman: Fall of the Batmen

Detective Comics volume 6 is written by James Tynion IV with artwork from Philippe Briones and Eddy Barrows. The DC Comics collection includes issues #969-974 plus Annual #1.

With Red Robin returned to Gotham City after the events of volume five, he and Spoiler reunite, though she is angry that he is choosing to continue working with Batman, Batwoman, Orphan, and the others. As the team continues forward, the Victim’s Syndicate team-up with Anarky to takeover Arkham Asylum and take the reformed Clayface hostage. This leads to a conflict within the Batman Family when Clayface goes on a rampage.

I am always happy to see Batman working with a team. Tynion does this very well, though Spoiler’s constant nagging starts to get annoying after awhile. As usual, Tynion does a good job with the plot. He writes a good Batman and his narrative works well with the art of Briones and Barrows. While I am not a fan of the conclusion, I still think it was a good story overall.
