Kevin Feige Is Venturing Into A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is working on a Star Wars project for The Walt Disney Company, co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn confirmed.

“We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox,” Horn told The Hollywood Reporter. “With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”

Feige has seen some tremendous success with Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, with several films, including Spider-Man: Far From Home, reaching over a billion dollars.

LucasFilms head Kathleen Kennedy has approved several projects led by J.J Abrams and Rian “Ruin” Johnson that have been poorly received by fans, placing several projects on hold or shelving them all together. It makes sense to task the highly successful Feige to put do a Star Wars film once the Skywalker saga concludes.

Time will tell, but Disney seems to be more concerned with branding than telling good stories if the Phase Four announcements are any indications. Hopefully, we will get Rogue One instead of The Last Jedi. Whatever the case may be, he could be the one to turn the franchise around, but it is still a long shot.
