‘Star Trek 4’ Gets A New Director

Good news for fans of the Kelvin Timeline. ‘Star Trek 4’ is back in production with a new director and hopefully, a bold new direction devoid of anything related to Quentin Tarantino.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Paramount Pictures has enlisted the aid of Noah Hawley in both writing and directing a fourth Star Trek reboot feature starring Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. Hawley has worked on several critically-acclaimed series including X-Men spin-off Legion and the limited series Fargo for FX. He made his feature film debut with Lucy In The Sky starring Jennifer Lawrence.

I am unfamiliar with Hawley’s work, however, I am sure he is a big improvement on Tarantino, who was originally slated as the director of this movie. It made no sense, seeing as Tarantino’s big-budget grindhouse films service such a niche audience. Now the Kill Bill director is relegated to a spin-off movie that will no doubt be disastrous. Hawley, at least, has experience in science fiction and could take the Enterprise to new places.

Since Star Trek Beyond was not well-received by critics or fans, with me being the only exception I suppose, Paramount has had a difficult time trying to set the film straight, at one point, it was even rumored that the movie was canceled. However, with Hawley signing on the bottom line to sit in the director’s chair, this could be an excellent sea change for the franchise if they are able to take the reboot series into the final frontier.
