My Top 10 Best Movies Of 2019

2019 was a strange year for movies. They all came in batches. One month, it would be all bad movies and the next it would be all good. For this list of my favorites, I did not just focus on movies I enjoyed for fun. I also looked at creativity, good writing, excellent artistic techniques, and whether or not I was entertained by it. Here are My Top 10 Best Films Of 2019:

10. Sefarad– This international indie film follows the story of Captain Barros Basto of Portugual, who was instrumental in helping the Jewish community of the nation grow and eventually become a safe haven during the Holocaust.

09. No Safe Spaces– The only documentary on this list, PragerU founder and radio host Dennis Prager teams with comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla to find out about campus censorship, cancel culture, and how to bring free speech back to the forefront in America’s mind.

08. Alita: Battle Angel– Rosa Salazar shines as Alita, a cyborg warrior who awakens to fight incredible odds to become a beacon of hope in this Robert Rodriguez directed science fiction tale.

07. Klaus– One of the most original animated takes on the story of Santa Claus that I have seen in a long time. It’s animation, voice acting, character design, and plot are all a cut above.

06. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World– The final entry in the DreamWorks trilogy about a Viking named Hiccup and his dragon ally Toothless who have to stop a dragon hunter from destroying their world.

05. The Highwaymen– Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson star as the former Texas Rangers who led the attempt to arrest notorious outlaws Bonnie and Clyde.

04. The Standoff At Sparrow Creek– Cinestate brings us this psychological thriller about a militia that starts to mistrust one another after a shooting at a cop’s funeral leads them to find a missing gun from their arsenal.

03. Joker– Director Todd Philips brings us a new take on the Clown Prince of Crime starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, who becomes the Joker.

02. Avengers: Endgame– The Infinity Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes to a dramatic ending as the Avengers try to undo the damage done by the tyrant known as Thanos.

01. Richard Jewell- My fellow film commentator Christian Toto says of Clint Eastwood’s directing, that the “storytelling instincts have never been more accurate, or more necessary.”
