LucasFilms made a major announcement about the secret Project Luminous, which was long-rumored to be a series taking place during the time of the Old Republic, prior to the Prequel Trilogy. With the release of the announcement trailer, the rumors have been confirmed to take place 200 years prior to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

During the announcement, the team explained that it will take place during a “Golden Age” of the High Republic when the Jedi are at the peak of being in power. It will be released through science fiction novels, young novellas, and comic books similar to projects from the past. Along with the video, the team also released some concept art of the heroes and villains for the series.

Here is the first look at two images of the Jedi who will be patrolling the Galaxy.

The next image shows more Jedi who are patroling the “borders of the Republic.”

This is a look at the villains of the series called the Nihil, who are described as “Space Vikings. Their motto is “You can’t take it with you, but we can take it from you.”

Last, but not least, here is the cover for one of the first novels to be released, Star Wars High Republic: The Light Of Jedi.

Honestly, the series does look promising. For a long time, fans have been reading novels or playing video games that take place during the days of the Old Republic. With this new series, hopefully it will good enough where we will see a trilogy of films set at that point of the franchise. Of course, since Disney bought control of Star Wars from creator George Lucas, we have seen nothing but mismanagement from the new LucasFilm regime. Hopefully, this book series will be something different, that the fans can enjoy.
