Impossible Burgers Are Coming To Disney Theme Parks

Disneyland and other Disney theme parks are getting a new attraction. Is it a Star Wars area that fans actually want to see? Is it an area based on their nineties ‘One Saturday Morning?’ Is it the reopening of Discovery Island? Nope. They are bringing vegan alternatives to their menus.

CNN reports that Disney has made a deal with Impossible Foods, a company that makes plant-based meat alternatives, to provide vegan dining to Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and Disney Cruise Line. Disney, as usual, is jumping on this craze before you can say, “Cha-ching!”

“There’s a level of trust associated with Disney,” Impossible Foods President Dennis Woodside told the outlet. “If Disney put us on the menu, then people are more likely to try it.”

Disneyland’s Head Chef John State said, “It certainly has all the components we’re looking for when it comes to flavor [and] texture…” He added, “It’s a big game changer.”

Personally, I think that plant-based alternatives are good for folks who struggle with dieting and digestive issues. I have relatives who have not gotten to enjoy a burger so they head to a restaurant that have these “Impossible Burgers” and enjoy them. I can tell the difference, but it is not bad, depending on where you buy them.

My only problem with this is treating it like it as big as announcing a new ride. “Yeah, you’ll get eggplant loaf at the Magic Kingdom!” Whatever. Just give us some of that old school magic. Let’s hope Disney will manage this transition better than they have Star Wars or their 20th Century Fox acquisitions.
