From DC Comics comes this Elseworlds one-shot Batman: Brotherhood of the Bat. It is written by Doug Moench with an army of artists including Jim Aparo and Graham Nolan.

Following the Third World War, a deadly version of Ebola plagues the world, wiping out much of humanity, including Batman. However, his nemesis Ra’s al Ghul gathers his surviving members of the League of Assassins to Gotham City where he launches the Brotherhood of the Bat from Wayne Manor. He rules the city with an iron fist, creating a vaccine for the disease. His reign seems unbreakable, until his daughter Talia, angry at her father, raises her son Tallant to be the next Batman. At first, the boy is hesitant, but when he learns Bruce Wayne is his father, he agrees to infiltrate Gotham City and take back the cape and cowl.

This is one of the most well-written Elseworlds that features a next-generation Batman. Moench does a good job of showing how Tallant takes after his father in becoming the Dark Knight. I also liked the square-off between him and Ra’s al Ghul. Even though I wanted to see how the original Batman died, I did like the transition. Tallant is way more likable than Damian Wayne and it is a shame he is not utilized more.

An army of artists worked on this one-shot including Jim Aparo, Jim Balent, Bret Blevins, Norm Breyfogle, Vincent Giarrano, Tom Grummett, Mike Manley, and Graham Nolan. They all did an amazing job and it has a classic feel to it that is enjoyable.
