The “Best Picture” Nominee List For The 2020 Academy Awards Drops

All has been revealed. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed its 2020 “Best Picture” nominees for the 92nd Academy Awards. Many are predictable, some are good, some are bad, and others are head-scratchers. Here is the list:

Sadly, I have not seen Ford v. Ferrari or 1917, and yet to see Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood. Going by the numbers, no one saw Marriage Story or Little Women, so I think I am in the clear for that one.

I will say, this is actually not a bad list. Joker, Jojo Rabbit, Parasite are all excellent picks and the first three I mentioned I have not seen, but I have a few trusted folks who have told me good things about them.

The other three I mentioned should be traded for Richard Jewell, The Standoff At Sparrow Creek, and Avengers: Endgame. Especially The Irishman, which does not deserve a single award. This is a slight against the audience which resoundingly rejected his elitism, but that is what Hollywood does. They got to pat their cronies on the back.

For the choices presented to us, and I will reserve the right to change my mind after I see a few of the others, I think that the award should go to Joker.

The biggest snub went to Clint Eastwood, who clearly directed the actual “Best Picture” of 2019. His biopic of Richard Jewell and how he was persecuted by the federal government and by the mainstream media was a story that America needed to hear. He beautifully portrayed it in the film. That is the way it is though. Eastwood took on one of Hollywood’s best friends, so no awards for him.

As for me, this is not another year for me not to watch the Oscars, though I’ll be sure to follow all of the drama on social media.
